SCIELO 2.0 - BALANCE OF ONE YEAR OF SERVICE OPERATION

Abstract

SciELO Portugal is a node of the SciELO project launched in 2005. Until 2018, the management of the SciELO Portugal was under the responsibility of the DireçãoGeral de Estatísticas da Educação e Ciência (DGEEC), when preparations for the transition from the project to the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) begin to be made. FCT assumed the overall coordination of the project, in partnership with the Unidade de Computação Científica Nacional (FCT/FCCN) and the University of Minho (UM). This change implied an update of the technological infrastructure, benefiting from the development of the PUBIN project, which emerged with the intention of responding to the needs in terms of editorial management platforms, in a centralized and interoperable way. This communication presents the balance of one year of operation of the new SciELO Portugal service, reconfigured to align with the central guidelines of the SciELO network and in the integration with new community norms. It presents the difficulties felt, consequences of the reorganization and impact on the community. Finally, it presents the next steps of the SciELO Portugal project.
