Abstract

A literature review was made of the different techniques of canal shutter using multiple databases as: LIS, MEDLINE, COCHRNE, LILACS, SECIMED; with the aim of updating the information on the techniques of canal plugging in terms of: filling materials, material conditions of the ideal shutter, description of the techniques and indications of each one of them. The different techniques described were: shutter technical alkaline with pasta, technical the single cone of gutta-percha, technical shutter of the apical third of gutta-percha cone with striped, technical of infusion of gutta-percha, technical vertical condensation of the gutta-percha hot, technical with gutta-percha  shutter thermoplastic with a syringe, technical mechanical shutter of the gutta-percha  and technical side of condensation being these last the more used in dental medicine because of its simplicity can be controlled better tactilely and radiographically the apical sealing perfect.
